The Orum Family
In 1969, entrepreneurs Peter and Irma Orum started Midwest
Groundcovers by rooting a few thousand cuttings in
friend and mentor, John Wilde’s
West Chicago backyard. Peter, trained in horticulture
in his native Denmark, immigrated to the US and found
his niche in America. Peter’s vision and
Irma’s administrative background provided an ideal foundation for
the infant company; their skills, planning and hard
work made it grow. |

Glenn, MI Greenhouse
In 1986, Midwest Groundcovers purchased the first acres of a farm in Glenn,
Michigan. Now 320-acres, it is currently the production home to crops including
perennials, ornamental grasses, Vinca and Euonymus. The Michigan nursery
continues to grow with ongoing development of new production areas.
